That's the news media. They report a two cent price rise in apples with a tone of, "WE COULD ALL DIE AT ANY MOMENT!!!!"

in either of my two older cars i'd've happily driven home.  I simply haven't tested my new car on ice and it sucked in snow.

also, I'm sick of my basement apartment and traffic and could've used the mini-vacation.  In the end, I wanted an excuse to pay way too much and avoid my daily life.  If there had been any ice on the ground, I could've tried to expense it.

Six inches here at Nacho Gardens!  AND COUNTING!  I just went for a walk and... The street has snow on it!

What the fuck, though.  Saturday night?  This is useless.  This snow's good for two days off if it started Sunday at 4am.  Now, grey slush by Monday morning.  Go to work!

Yeah, I feel the same pain. If things would have started 24 hours later, I'd have gotten a day off from work.

Still, my wife's staged reading was cancelled so it sex and snow shovelling all day long today!

Shit, we got hammered.  About 14 inches here.  Good, heavy, wet snow.  And still at the freezing mark.  We did the snow blower thing on the driveway because it's mildly fun to push it around and, after five minutes, I just let it run and stare blankly at the dent on my car like a mental patient.  Then my grandfather comes out and I let the heart attack patient push the heave snow plower down half an acre of driveway, battling and raging against 14 inches of 500 pound snow and a quarter ton of angry, rusting metal with three feet of spinning, unshielded blades.  Junkyards are fun, too.

Now I'm inside, warm, listening to Rasputina's cover album.  Wish You Were Here sounds better than the Floyd version.  They fucked up Bad Moon Rising, I think.  It's the type of song that lends itself to the Creedence style and rhythm.  But Floyd's dark secret is that, down deep, they just aren't that good.  They're observant, moody, inspired and angry.  But anyone can do the songs.  The songs don't have that gentle imprint, loike with CCR, so people copy them and you roll your eyes.

Next up -- watch all the roads get cleared on traffic cameras and bestill my black heart as I prepare for Monday morning.  Maybe some Simcity 4.

Also -- fuck me -- season two of Greatest American Hero is write protected!  Even piracy fails.  So now I'll have to watch those all day.  Unless I can plow through the discs with DVD Decrypter.  40% and counting.  We'll see.  Shrink gagged at 80%.

ow your poor car.

i should hear that rasputina... I've been trying to find my frustration plantation lately.

in a $1.75 domestic lights on tap bar (Cork Bar) in Ocean City, MD this Saturday I played "Bring the Boys Home" on their jukebox.  I was getting along pretty well with them before that.   But honestly, who the hell puts both discs of The Wall on a jukebox?

It's their entire discography.  Great stuff.

And, let's see...snowed in at the beach in the off season, dollar beers, the entire Wall album.  Did you shoot anyone?

Their cover of Zeppelin's Rock 'n' Roll is my favorite.  It sounds humorous to me for some reason and I always laugh at it when it comes on.  But the singer's got a killer voice.

They both have great voices.  If you ever get a chance to catch a live show -- go.  They're terrific live and the main girl is dangerously psychotic.  She'll go off on weird rants and get lost in her own thoughts so you can't follow what she's saying.  It can be surreal.

I just cherry picked that one song off The Wall.  Along with some Jane's Addiction, Dead's Friend of the Devil, mm.. can't remember the rest.  Actually, can't remember most of the rest of that night, except I never did win at pool.  (I was left with 0-1 balls on the table nearly every game.)

Uh-oh!  AN INCH!!

An Inch of Snow Possible Tonight for Region

The wintery storm that blanketed the Plains states on the first day of spring has yet to arrive in the Washington area.

Still, a winter weather advisory remained in effect, according to the National Weather Service. Up to another inch of snow is possible tonight, with the mercury falling several degrees below freezing, perhaps disrupting Wednesday morning's commute.

The storm system hammered Nebraska, South Dakota and Kansas on Monday, dumping more than two feet of snow in some places and forcing the closure of schools, highways and South Dakota's state legislature.

Today, the snow moved into the Midwest, losing strength as it did so. No more than three to six inches was expected in Illinois, Ohio and western Pennsylvania, with the precipitation tapering off even more as the storm system reached the East coast.

As the cold front heads east, it will collide with warm air pushing up from the Gulf of Mexico, leading to thunderstorms across the Southeast, Accu-weather forecasters said.

I'd post my feelings here, but I'm far too busy running out to buy perishable foods and toilet paper.
