So...the warning for tomorrow just got upgraded.  10-20 inches, starting at noon.

Holy shit...

I think we should retitle this thread "Four Feet of Panic."

Some of these are great.  Especially Snowpocalypse on Cap Hill.

The one of people sledding down Capitol Hill makes me love America. Seriously.

The Fed is closed Tuesday!  And probably Wednesday, too, since we're set to get 20 more inches.

Now...we're going to walk a mile so the NW can buy a pack of cigs.

Are these paid days off, Nacho?

I'm certainly want to be working tomorrow since as you say, I'm likely going to be unable to work on Wednesday. Three days off from work will be great for the DVD prep, but terrible for my pocketbook.

Oh, of course.  I'll never work somewhere again where I don't get paid days off.

And the great thing is that I still earn my normal vacation time.  When the Fed closes, they consider it a regular day.

It is grey out there right now.  Ominous.  We need to get to the store, but there's no digging out the car.  I don't want to bother with driving anyway.  So we're going to go sit for three hours and wait for a bus, then battle zombies, then wait three more hours to get back.

Rumor:  Government to shut down for the rest of the week.  Schools and local governments have already done so.

Heavy snow falling now...

Still waiting for word on the Fed... But a moot point.  Metro is underground only and no bus service tomorrow.  That means I can't get in even if the Fed is open.

Yeah, Feds just closed.  And WaPo says they're going to make an announcement about Thursday tomorrow morning.

Our new problem:  Trash.  We have curbside service and no dumpster.  So, of course, we now have a week's worth of trash sitting in the dining room.

Most of our neighbors are just piling it up on the snow by the side of the road.  So now there's three feet of snow, a wall of trash, and another foot about to bucket down.  Trash pickup isn't expected to make it through till Friday, at best.

I can't bring myself to be a common pleb like my neighbors and just throw trash out onto the snowfield, so it's all piling up inside and driving the NW crazy.

Trash has been hard for us too, but we have a house so it's a bit different. Our trash is sitting with the recycling right now on the side of our house. It's not in a lidded can, but it's somewhat organized. I don't imagine trash service will resume until at least next week.

From the radio, it sounds like DC and southern MD are quickly going post-apocalyptic. PG and Montgomery Counties especially are being touted as ground zero for a Waco level of government incompetence on snow removal. Martin O'Malley and Ike Leggett are both being asked to resign by more than one radio personality.
