I was actually angry. The ending was pathetic, the story line stupid, the writing scattered and obsessed with how cool a project they were undertaking. Even Ford seemed to be phoning it in. The mid-acts sag was so pronounced we kept checking the time, last day of school style: Minutes felt like hours. And then turned into actual hours!

Film nerds are obsessed with the cinematographer, Roger Deakins. He's best known for shooting most of the Cohen Brothers' films. He is, to be fair, an artist in a world of commerce.

That said, a pretty picture without a story is a supermodel with a sixth grade education.

Oh, it's pretty. Beautifully shot. And the music cues and soundtrack are dead on 110% nostalgia trip. The city scenes are all 110% nostalgia trip.

But...that's it. So if you want to watch three hours of "can we be loyal to and upgrade the visual and audio aspects of Blade Runner?" this is your movie.
